What is PeptoBol PeptoPro®?

PeptoBol PeptoPro® is a dietary supplement recommended for athletes who engage in intense and prolonged physical activity. Casein hydrolysates (PeptoPro®) are derived from casein (a milk protein known for its slow digestion) subjected to hydrolysis, an artificial enzymatic digestion process that splits the peptide bonds of proteins, producing smaller molecules called peptides. The Peptobol PeptoPro® line is based on Peptopro® formulations, proteins derived from caseins enzymatically hydrolyzed into small di-tripeptides (70-80%). Being predigested, they are significantly more rapidly absorbed than "intact" proteins, but also than the same free-form amino acids, thanks to a different (non-specific) transport carrier compared to the more specific (and "limiting") one used by free-form proteins.     What justifies their price?

    Their price has been the worst obstacle to their market penetration, perhaps more than their flavor, but hydrolyzed casein remains a unique protein preparation. Eighty percent of their peptides are under 300 daltons, considering that solid protein foods or even their "relatives," whey concentrate and isolate, are characterized by long polypeptide chains. The PeptoPro® proteins in PeptoBol contain only short chains consisting of a maximum of four amino acids, and moreover dipeptides and tripeptides, which means absolute solubility and digestibility, also because their size makes them hypoallergenic. This means extremely rapid gastrointestinal transit and rapid absorption. Its high proline content determines the "bitter" flavor of the resulting peptides, which can't be significantly altered, even by adding carbohydrates or flavored drinks.
